Second Rotherham 10K just four weeks away and there's still time to join!

AROUND 300 runners have signed up to the second Rotherham 10K - and there is still time to join them.

The town centre run is just one month away and will once again start and finish in Clifton Park on Sunday, May 12.

Before the main event at 11am, there will be a one-mile fun run starting at 10.15am around the park, which families and schools are encouraged to sign up to.

Currently, 30 people have signed up to the fun run, which will also feature an inter-schools competition and all finishers will receive a medal.

Organiser and Rotherham Harriers secretary Steve Gaines said: “Last year we had over 300 entries for the 10K in the final four weeks and we hope to repeat or exceed that this year.”

In total, 700 runners of all abilities laced up their trainers at last year’s inaugural event - which saw temperatures rise to around 26 deg C on the day.

Age UK Rotherham will once again be the beneficiaries after more than £2,400 was raised for the charity in 2018.

“We hope to see lots of runners and supporters around the course on the day,” added Steve. “We hope for sunny, but cooler weather this year for the runners.

“We will again be holding a corporate challenge for businesses or teams of four runners.

“Last year’s winning team was RNN Group with a total of 391 points, which was based on the finishing positions of the four runners.

“So, if you think you’re up for the challenge why not sign up and join the fun?”
