It was expected that caretaker manager Andy Liddell and assistant Paul Warne would remain in charge until the end of the season but chairman Tony Stewart has moved for Scott now with five games of the League Two season to go.

Scott (38) was sacked by Brentford in February after three years with the Bees.

He led them to promotion to League One in his first full season and they reached this year's Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final.

First priority for Scott will be three points on Saturday when Hereford United visit Don Valley Stadium.
