Schoolchildren celebrate reading

BOOK worms at a Rotherham school have enjoyed a week-long programme of activities to celebrate reading.

Parents, staff and pupils at Rudston School took part in competitions, poetry workshops, a fancy dress day and watched a Punch and Judy show as part of the entertainment.

A school spokeswoman said: "We have had a wonderful Book Week promoting reading throughout the school. 

"The junior school visited Rotherham Library and worked with the children's librarians there, engaging in story making activities. 

"Book character dress day rounded off the week with a wonderful parade of some fabulous and very original costumes."
