School stalwart and ex-pupil retires after 30 years

PUPIL, teaching assistant and finance officer – Bev Cookson has played many different parts at the same school over the years.

And the long-serving school worker was wished well by colleagues past and present as she brought the curtain down on 32 years on the staff at Wickersley Northfield Primary School.

Bev (pictured) was one of the school’s first pupils when it opened as Wickersley Northfield Junior School in 1967 and both her daughter Lindsey and now her grandson Jacob followed in her footsteps.

Bev began working in school in 1988, firstly as a teaching assistant, before qualifying to be a specialist teaching assistant and finally moving to her current role as admin and finance officer.

School administrator Diane Sanderson said: “We were not able to celebrate the occasion as we normally would, due to Covid-19, but Bev would like to thank colleagues both past and present for her gifts, cards, flowers and well wishes

.

“We wish Bev every happiness for a long and healthy retirement.”
