School shut by teachers' walk-out

A ONE-DAY strike by teachers in a dispute over job losses closed a Rotherham secondary school today.

Pickets were mounted outside Swinton Community School after more than 20 members of the NUT teaching walked out.

The school said restructuring of staffing had been caused by a fall in pupil numbers.

Eight jobs were originally threatened but the figure has since been reduced to one.
