School acts after school trip youngster goes missing

A SCHOOL has put new safety measures in place after an infant pupil was found wandering the streets alone after going missing on a school trip

The youngster became separated from his classmates and teachers when Brinsworth Manor School youngsters visited a park near the school.

A member of the public found the boy walking alone and returned him safely after the incident, which happened earlier this month.

Head teacher Lynne Deakin said that the necessary changes had been made to prevent any chance of it happening in future.

“We can confirm there was an incident in which a child went missing for a short period of time before being found and returned by a member of the public,” she added.

“The child was not harmed in any way and I have spoken with his parents to explain what happened.

“We immediately launched a full investigation and informed the Rotherham Safeguarding Unit.

“New safety measures have already been put into effect to ensure that there is no repeat of this incident and we have written to all parents to inform them.”
