Samaritans call for Christmas volunteers

ROTHERHAM Samaritans are appealing for new volunteers to help them reach more people as demand heightens around the Christmas period.

This year has been a challenging one due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the national charity responding to a call for help every seven seconds. 

The need for new call handlers is now greater than ever — and the Samaritans have quickly adapted the way they carry out recruitment, which has recently moved online.

While branches are currently unable to offer a face-to-face service, Samaritans are still providing a listening service over the phone and by email.
