COMMITTED runner Ray Matthews has begun the mammoth challenge of completing 75 marathons in 75 days in the hope of raising £75,000.
Ray (75) was joined by children from Newman School — where he hopes to raise enough money for a specialist playground — as he set off for his first run from Herringthorpe Playing Fields on Saturday.
He also ran the Brinsworth 10K as part of his marathon distance on Sunday and Ray will be completing marathons across the borough over the next two months.
The Advertiser wants to hear from you if you see Ray completing his challenge.

Ray, of Maltby, is due to complete the gruelling challenge on September 14.
