AMATEUR runners could become record breakers by signing up for a special event at Rother Valley Country Park next month.

New York Bakery Company will hold The Global Energy Race across 38 cities in 21 countries on Sunday, September 24.

People can either complete a 3km, 5km or 10km route and the fastest man and woman to complete to complete the 10km route will win a trip to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

The company hope the event will break the Guinness World Record for the most races taking in the most cities around the globe on a single day.

It will also donate a bagel to local foodbanks, after teaming up with charity the Trussell Trust, for every kilometre run.

All registration fees for the race will also be donated to the charity.

The race will take place from 9am until 2pm and the 3km route is suitable for families.
