Runaway van causes three-vehicle fire

FIREFIGHTERS tackled an accidental fire in three vehicles caused by a runaway van.

Crews from Edlington and Rivelin stations were called to Millindale Road in Maltby, at 12.03pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Upon arrival, they found a car and two vans well alight.

“This was dealt with by 12.55pm and is thought to have started accidentally – when one of the vans rolled down a hill and crashed into the other vehicles.”

Firefighters from Maltby were called to Rotherwood Crescent in Thurcroft, at 7.32pm the same day to deal with a tumble dryer on fire in an outhouse.

The blazet was dealt with by 8pm and is thought to have started accidentally.
