Rubbish and wooden pallets torched in the Dearne Valley

ARSONISTS set fire to rubbish and wooden pallets in Wombwell and Sprotbrough overnight.

Firefighters from Cudworth station were called out to rubbish alight on Mitchells Ways, Wombwell, at 7.10pm and left the scene after 35 minutes.

A crew from Doncaster attended a blaze involving wooden pallets and rubbish on Anchorage Lane, Sprotbrough, just after 8pm.

The cause of both fires are believed to be deliberate, said a spokeswoman from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
