Rubbish and car torched in the Dearne Valley

RUBBISH and a car were both set alight overnight in arson incidents in the Dearne Valley.

Firefighters from Cudworth station attended a deliberate rubbish fire on Station Road in Wath at 8.50pm.

They had left the scene by 9.35pm. 

At 1.05am this morning, three fire crews from Dearne and Adwick stations were called out to High Street in Thurnscoe, to a Seat Leon on fire and had spread to a van.

Firefighters used hose reels to quickly put the fire, said a spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

"They left the scene at 2.05am," he added.

"Both fires are believed to have been started deliberately."
