Royal Wedding: Take a trip back in time to when royalty came to Rotherham

This week’s Advertiser features a four-page special packed with previously unseen photos of the Queen and other royals stopping by.

We’re also planning another big celebration of royal visits later in the year —and we want YOU to be a big part of it.

When we appealed for readers’ memories of royalty coming to Rotherham online and in the paper, we were contacted by several people wanting to tell their stories, a couple of which are recounted on these pages.

But we want to tell more of them, which is where you come in.

Perhaps you were in the front row of the huge crowds welcoming Princess Margaret in 1953?

Did you grab a chat with the Queen at Herringthorpe Leisure Centre in July 1975?

Maybe you met Princess Anne as she toured a rehabilitation centre in 1992?

Or are you old enough to recall the future Edward VIII, then the Prince of Wales, stopping by in 1923?
