Rothertham United agree provisional terms with defender Jamie McCart

ROTHERHAM United have agreed provisional terms to bring St Johnstone defender Jamie McCart to AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The deal with the 24-year-old left-sided centre-half is expected to be finalised next week.

McCart has made more than 100 appearances for St Johnstone over the last two years and has opted to move south of the border despite the offer of a new contract from the SPL outfit.

He came through the youth ranks at Celtic, joined Saints from Inverness and signed a two-and-a-half-year deal in January 2020.

McCart attracted interest from several English clubs last summer and also featured in the Europa League last term.

Should the deal go through, the player would boost the Millers' depleted defensive ranks in the wake of this week's arrivals of wing-back Peter Kioso from Luton Town and striker Conor Washington from Hull City.

McCart becomes the third new signing of the week after wing-back Peter Kioso from Luton Town and striker Tom Eaves from Hull City.
