Rotherham vaccine figure tops 65,000

OVER 65,000 people across Rotherham have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Ian Atkinson, executive place director for Rotherham NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said as of Monday all four of the government’s priority groups had been offered the first jab of the Covid vaccine, hitting the national target as planned.

“We’re very pleased that all four priority groups have now received an offer of the vaccine in line with the government’s deadline of February 15,” he added.

“If anyone feels like they have been missed in these groups, we urge them to contact us.

“Our figures up to Sunday showed we have reached around 65,000 vaccines across our local vaccination sites and the Rotherham Hospital hub.”

Focus will now turn to those aged 65 and over, and people aged 16 to 64 with underlying health conditions, which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality.
