Rotherham United's Curtis Tilt close to his dream move while manager Paul Warne gives the latest on Millers recruitment

It is understood that the two clubs have finally agreed a six-figure fee that will see the Millers get a return on the £100,000 they spent bringing the defender to AESSEAL New York Stadium two years ago.

Negotiations have been going on since Tilt was recalled from his third loan spell with the Latics earlier this month.

"I cannot see it breaking down, I would expect it to go through," said Rotherham boss Paul Warne after yesterday's 1-0 home win over Cheltenham Town lifted his side from fourth to third place in League One.

Tilt has endured a frustrating time in South Yorkshire and the 30-year-old has made only one appearance for the Millers.

He has long been keen on a full switch to the DW Stadium and Wigan chairman Talal Al Hammad dropped a heavy hint on Twitter on Friday night that a deal was virtually done.

“Believe,” he tweeted alongside images of a pen and the national flag of Jamaica – the country whom the player represents.

The Latics, who top League One, made several bids before reaching a figure that Rotherham owner Tony Stewart found acceptable.

When asked if Tilt's departure could free up money for signings, Warne replied: "Possibly."

The transfer window closes at 11pm a week tomorrow and the manager hasn't ruled out at least one incoming.

"The recruitment team are trying to help us," he said. "We need some fresh blood but new arrivals have to be affordable and, obviously, available. At the moment, there isn't anything imminent."
