Rotherham United say 'no' as third bid for Dan Barlaser goes past £1 million.

MANAGER Paul Warne says Rotherham United wouldn't be seeking to sell wanted man Dan Barlaser even if the club bidding for him double their £1-million-plus offer.

The Millers boss sees the Geordie playmaker as crucial to his promoted team's chances of establishing themselves in the Championship this season.

Warne revealed this morning that a rival second-tier side have made a third attempt to land the 25-year-old and that Rotherham immediately rejected it.

"The offer from that club has gone up," the boss said. "I think it is their third bid and I presume it is their last. We just said categorically 'no'.

"In fairness, they could double it and I still wouldn't want to sell Dan. I have spoken to their manager and it was a respectful conversation. I said there was zero point (in negotiating). I really like Dan. He plays every week."

Warne, whose squad travel to League One Port Vale in the first round of the Carabao Cup tomorrow, hopes Barlaser will agree new terms to extend his stay at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The midfielder is in the final 12 months of his three-year deal and his manager said: "We will try to re-sign him or he might want to see his contract out.

"Selling him is not something we are looking to do and I don't think anyone will offer anything that makes it worthwhile."

Warne refused to name the bidding club but it is thought to be Blackpool.

He added: "They might come back in but the answer would still be 'no' unless the amount was ridiculous. They are not going to go from over £1m to £3m overnight. I can't see a move there happening under any circumstances."

The Millers, gearing up for Saturday’s home league clash with Reading, plan to give some of their squad men an outing at Vale Park.
