Rotherham United reject bids for midfield pair Dan Barlaser and Ben Wiles

ROTHERHAM United have turned down a bid for midfielder Dan Barlaser and a substantial, seven-figure offer for Ben Wiles.

Speaking from the club's pre-season training camp in Croatia, manager Paul Warne said a "decent bid" for Barlaser had been rejected along with three offers for Wiles, the last in excess of £2 million.

"These are very good players that we value," he told the Millers' official website. "We don't want to sell and at the moment the offers that are coming in are nowhere near our valuation.

"We are a really healthy club, we know what we are but we don't want clubs to come in and take our players, they're our prized assets.

"It's the same for the clubs that come in (for players). They don't want to lose players for less than their value."

Warne said he had spoken honestly to Barlaser and Wiles about the situation and that they understood. He has done the same with other members of his squad wanted on loan by other clubs.

A centre-half has joined up with the group in Croatia today with a view to a move, subject to stringent medical tests.

Added Warne: "There might be movement with getting more players in.

"I want at least two more defenders, a midfielder and another attacking option.

"I would like to think we'll get five more in."

Rotherham play Fleetwood Town in a behind-closed-doors friendly in Croatia on Thursday before returning for a run of friendlies in the run-up to the Championship season, starting on July 30.
