Manager Paul Warne today took his number of summer signings to 12 by landing Glasgow Rangers winger Jake Hastie on a season-long loan from Glasgow Rangers ahead of the 5pm deadline.

He will focus next on keeping two players he rates highly at the club.

"I've got Michael and Joe who I want to offer long-term deals to," said the boss. "That's what we'll be looking to sort out."

Centre-half Ihiekwe, aged 26, has been in outstanding form this season while left-back Mattock, 29, is one of the Millers' longest-serving players. Both are out of contract at the end of the season.

Liverpudlian Ihiekwe told the Advertiser last week that he would love to extend his stay in South Yorkshire.

Warne said: "I'm talking to him about a new deal already. I've spoken to him about three times.

"When I drove down south the other day, I phoned him and told him what we were intending to offer.

"Out of all my players, he is the one who has impressed me the most so far in pre-season and since the season proper began. He's been virtually faultless."

Mattock has been with Rotherham since 2015 and has made more than 150 appearances.

"I love Joe," said Warne. "For my money, he is one of the best left-backs in League One."
