With the start of their Championship campaign only a week away, the Millers have taken the centre-half from fellow second-tier side Middlesbrough on a season-long loan.

The 30-year-old made well over 100 Championship appearances for QPR in a five-year spell before moving to Boro in 2020.

He played for the Teessiders under Neil Warnock but fell out of favour when Chris Wilder took the hot-seat last season.

On his last visit to AESSEAL New York Stadium, with Middlesbrough in April 2021, he was involved in the aerial clash of heads that saw Rotherham midfielder Matt Crooks sent off.

He trained with his new teammates for the first time on Thursdday and may be in the squad when the Millers round off their pre-season programme at Crewe Alexandra this afternoon.

Hall started out at home-town club Brighton & Hove Albion before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.

He failed to make the breakthrough at White Hart Lane and, after loan spells at Swindon Town, Birmingham City and Blackpool, joined QPR in 2015.

Rotherham plan to bring in at least four more new players before the September 1 close of the transfer window and a striker and midfielder are their priority targets.
