Rotherham United game off

TONIGHT'S Rotherham United home match with Lincoln City has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.

The Millers, who could have gone back to the top of League One with a win at AESSEAL New York Stadium, made the announcement at 2.15pm after calling in the match referee to assess the surface

Their statement read: "It was decided it would pose a safety risk to players."

Frost covers had been placed on the pitch overnight but some sections of it aren't exposed to sunlight during winter and weren't going to soften in time for the game to go ahead.

Grounds staff raised their concerns this morning.

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.
