Rotherham United forward Jerry Yates attracting interest from Blackpool

BLACKPOOL are tracking Rotherham United striker Jerry Yates.

Yates’ stock has risen after scoring 14 goals in 36 games on loan at Swindon Town this season, helping the Robins to the League Two title.

His Millers contract expires this month and the club is likely to take up the option of a 12-month extension in to order to get a fee for the home-grown forward.

The Seasiders’ top scorer, Armand Gnanduillet, who netted 21 times last season, is out of contract this summer and they are also looking to increase their fire power ready for a stronger challenge in League One next term.

Yates is seen is a good fit at Bloomfield Road.

The Doncaster-born player joined Rotherham six years ago but struggled for consistent game time in the first team.

Still only 23, he has had loan spells at Harrogate and Carlisle but it is at Swindon where he has blossomed, forming a good partnership with Eoin Doyle.

The move comes as Rotherham’s efforts to shape a squad ready for another crack at the Championship next season begin in earnest.

The Millers are due to release their retained list by June 23.
