Millers manager Paul Warne is an admirer of the 25-year-old who has just finished his season with Bohemians as the top scorer in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland.

However, he doesn't plan to make a move for the 22-goal frontman unless one of his own centre-forwards leave AESSEAL New York Stadium in this month's transfer window.

"I have spoken to him and I told him the position we are in: that I have got four strikers and while I have got four strikers I am happy with that," the boss said.

Kelly is available on a free transfer and has attracted interested from League Two Bradford City as well as clubs in Scotland and on the continent.

League One Rotherham have a full complement of hitmen in Michael Smith, Freddie Ladapo, Will Grigg and Josh Kayode.

Ladapo has asked to leave New York but so far there have been no bids for him, leaving Warne playing a waiting game.

"I don't intend to sign a striker this window, although with other things going on I might need to," he said. "As things stand, I have got my four strikers.

"There is no Georgie Kelly in the building at the moment."

Warne took a thinly-veiled swipe at Bantams boss Derek Adams for choosing to make Rotherham's interest public.

"I sincerely appreciate the Bradford manager mentioning us by name," he said. "That's a nice touch."
