ROTHERHAM United will start the 2020/21 Championship campaign away to Wycombe Wanderers in a historic fixture for Gareth Ainsworth's side.

The two teams, both promoted from League One, will meet at Adams Park on Saturday, September 12 in what will be the Chairboys' first ever match in the second tier having successfully negotiated the play-offs when the season resumed after lockdown.

Rotherham's first home game is against Millwall a week later, although whether supporters will be allowed into grounds by that time in light of current social distancing restrictions is still in big doubt.

The clashes with old foes Sheffield Wednesday both fall in midweek, with the home game on Wednesday, October 28 and the Hillsborough date on Wednesday, March 3.

Boxing Day takes the Millers to Middlesbrough while Barnsley come to AESSEAL New York Stadium for a festive South Yorkshire derby three days later. The return at Oakwell is on Saturday, April 24.

There is no New Year's Day fixture this year, the nearest date a January 2 visit from Will Vaulks' Cardiff City.
