Rotherham shop owner dies in motorbike accident

ROTHERHAM shop owner John Chantler has been named as the motorcyclist killed in an accident on Saturday.

Mr Chantler (50), was thrown from his Ducati superbike on a righthand bend as he rode the red-and-white machine along Worksop Road towards Tickhill, from the direction of Oldcotes. at about 5.30pm.

Police said that Mr Chantler, of Toll Bar Road, Brecks, suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Mr Chantler was wearing dark coloured leathers and police believe that he may have been seen riding alone or with another bike, in the area of the incident, between noon and 12.30pm on Saturday.

The 50-year-old biker was the owner of the Wellgate Domestics electrical store on Wellgate, Rotherham.

His wife Julie said: “It has been extremely hard.”
