Rotherham Round Table hunting for good causes to support

New chairman James Fox said Rotherham Round Table had money in its community fund which was open for bids.

A NEW man has moved into the lead role of a fundraising fellowship group and appealed for good causes to back with cash.

James Fox (above right) took over as chairman of Rotherham Round Table at the organisation’s annual general meeting at the George Wright Hotel last week, with outgoing chairman Matthew Ridsdale (left) handing over the reins.

Round Table is a social group which also raises thousands of pounds annually to be distributed to community groups, charities and other bodies who ask it for a helping hand.

Its most high-profile annual event is the tour by Santa and his sleigh of large areas of the borough in the run-up to Christmas, which is a joint effort with Rotherham 41 Club and Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club.

James said Rotherham Round Table had money in its community fund which was open for bids.

“We have backed some great causes over the years and are keen to keep up that tradition,” he said

“All requests will be considered — the only restriction is the money must be spent in the Rotherham borough.”

Previous beneficiaries have included literacy charity Grimm and Co, Rotherham Foodbank and Canklow Children’s Centre.
