Rotherham romantic Jimmy proposes - by tattoo!

ROMANTIC Jimmy Dean didn’t have to “ink” twice about how to ask wife Samantha to renew their vows - he had the proposal tattooed on his chest.

The heavily-tattooed 33-year-old from Herringthorpe gathered friends and family to the Sitwell Arms in Whiston on Saturday for the big reveal.

And the £80 he spent on the 17-line etching was thankfully money well spent, as a stunned Samantha said “Yes”.

Jimmy, of Tennyson Road, already has about 20 tattoos and had his latest etching done by Gaz Crofts at the Union Forge studio in Sheffield, which is sponosed by Dark side Tattoo Supplies.

“It took about two hours and was quite painful because it went over the ribs,” he said.

“I got everyone together at the Sitwell for a drink. Samantha knew something was going on because we had talked about renewing our vows but she didn’t expect this.

“I asked her: ‘Have you got your reading glasses?’ and then pulled my top up and got her to read it.

“Thankfully, she said: ‘Yes’.”

An overwhelmed Samantha said she was shocked by the proposal.

“I had no idea he was going to do anything like that,” she said.

“I’ve never heard of anyone else doing the same and I was really pleased.

“It was lovely and I was quite emotional.”

Samantha said she would like to get married again on the couple’s anniversary, August 22, joking: “He better get some money saved up”, 

although she expected they would actually tie the knot for the second time next year.
