Rotherham rape unit set up

A SPECIALIST unit set up to investigate rape and sexual assaults and give support to victims will "go live" in Rotherham next week.
The dedicated centre, based at Maltby Police Station, is aimed at stream-lining the way that sexual offences are investigated throughout South Yorkshire and will begin operations next Monday (October 12).
Named after the Greek God of light, truth and healing, the Apollo unit, will be staffed be specialist officers who have under-gone an intensive training programme. They will handle all newly reported cases of rape and sexual assault received across the force in a bid to tackle inconsistencies.
