Rotherham rail services disrupted by attempted cable thefts

RAIL services through Rotherham have been disrupted by thieves trying to steal cables.

Operator Northern Rail said all connections through Rotherham Central would be diverted or delayed until 2.30pm.

A spokesman put this down to “a signalling problem caused by vandalism”.

Passengers between Meadowhall and Swinton are being asked to leave the stations and catch a replacement bus service through Rotherham.
