Last year Aston Comprehensive School took part in Number Day and raised more than £632 for the society.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: "We hope that this year's event will build on the success of previous years and schools across Rotherham will join in and raise even more."

Sponsored maths challenges include Who Wants To Be A Mathionaire? and the entrepreneurial task, Be the Boss, which challenges key stage four pupils to raise £100 with a budget of £50.

All the money raised will benefit the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal which aims to raise £50 million over three years to develop the NSPCC helplines, text and on-line counselling services.
