Rotherham nightclub horror attack caught on CCTV

DETECTIVES have released CCTV footage of the moment a single punch fractured a teenager’s skull in a Rotherham nightspot.

The 19-year-old victim, from East Dene, was knocked unconscious by the apparently unprovoked assault in Tryst.

Paramedics were called and he needed treatment at A&E for the fractured skull as well as stitches to a cut lip.

The victim has been left with no memory of being hit, or whether the suspect said anything to him prior to the attack.

Police investigating the incident have released footage taken by the Main Street nightclub at 12.45am on Saturday, January 7.

A police spokeswoman said: “The bar was busy at the time so we are confident that someone must have seen something that could help us.

“The CCTV shows the moment when the victim is punched unconscious by the suspect.

“It then shows what officers believe to be the offender being pushed away from the nightclub with two friends.

“Officers are keen to establish exactly what happened and would like to speak to anyone who was inside the nightclub or has information about the incident.”

She added that nightclub staff had been very supportive of the police, co-operating fully with the ongoing investigation.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference 55 of January 7.
