Rotherham men arrested over Doncaster shooting

TWO Rotherham men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in Doncaster.

The men, aged 23 and 25, have been arrested and released on police bail after officers were called to reports that a man had been seriously injured on Bentley Road, Doncaster, at 11.53pm last Wednesday, a police spokesperson said.

Police discovered a man (24) at the scene with injuries consistent with a firearms discharge and he was taken to hospital where he remained yesterday.

Officers have released images of a vehicle they would like to find which was seen on Bentley Road before the incident.

Det Insp Matt Bolger said: “Our enquiries so far have indicated that this vehicle was in the Bentley Road area around the time that the victim was injured.

“It’s a black Nissan X-Trail and it’s got a distinctive silver boot and a sun roof.

"If you’ve seen it or have information about where it might be, please contact us.

“The number plate, although this may have been removed, is YE05 AVO.

“We believe that information about this vehicle could greatly assist us in understanding the circumstances around this incident and piecing together exactly what happened.”

Anyone who sees the vehicle should not approach the driver or its occupants and should call 999 immediately.

Anyone contacting the police should quote reference number 1043 of August 18.
