Rotherham man on terrorism charge

A 26-year-old man from Rotherham will face terrorism charges before magistrates sitting in London tomorrow.

Nicholas Roddis is set to appear via a video link with Westminster Magistrates Court charged with Engaging in the Preparation of an Act of Terrorism under Section five of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Roddis, of Maltby, was arrested by officers from the North East Counter Terrorism Unit in March this year and is currently remanded in custody.

A spokesman for the force said: “The North East CTU would like to reassure partners and communities that this investigation is not connected to the Olympic Games and forms part of a long-standing NE CTU enquiry.”
