Rotherham man jailed for possession of gun and assaulting police officer
A ROTHERHAM man has been jailed for five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and assaulting an emergency service worker.
Anthony Wright (29), of Woodside Walk, appeared before court last Wednesday for sentencing following an incident earlier this year.
A police spokesperson said: “ On February 12, officers attended reports of a domestic incident and upon arrival saw Wright fleeing from the scene.

Hide Ad“Following a short foot chase Wright was detained a short distance away, during which he pushed and knocked over an officer.
“After his arrest, officers searched his bag and found a handgun and ammunition.
"The gun was later examined and proved to be a viable firearm.
“Wright was sentenced to five years in prison.”
