A ROTHERHAM man has appeared at court in connection with an attempted murder at Wombwell at the weekend.

Nathan Brittle (22), of Herringthorpe, was arrested after a 41-year-old man was shot in the head on Sunday night.

Brittle appeared at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and was remanded in custody.

The alleged victim was shot in an alleyway between from Marsh Street to nearby Smith Street, in Wombwell, at 7.30pm on Sunday.

He was rushed to hospital, where his condition is stable.

Eight other people arrested in connection with the shooting are still being questioned over the incident.
