Rotherham man (24) arrested in Sheffield murder investigation

A ROTHERHAM man has been arrested on suspicion of murder by police investigating a fatal stabbing in Sheffield.

The 24-year-old, alongside two 29-year-old men from Sheffield, was arrested last night over the death of 32-year-old Danny Irons.

"They all remain in police custody at this time," said a police spokeswoman. 

A 28-year-old Sheffield man was also arrested last Saturday (April 17) - the same day Sheffield man Mr Irons died but has since been released under investigation.

Emergency services were called to Fretson Green in the Manor area of Sheffield at 12.34am on April 17 after reports that a 32-year-old man had been found seriously injured.

"Danny had suffered a stab wound, and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene," added the spokeswoman.

"A post mortem examination carried out last weekend confirmed the injury as cause of death."

Det Chief Insp Simon Palmer,said: “I would like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far.

“I continue to appeal to anyone who has information about what happened to Danny to get in touch with us. We are particularly keen to hear about any vehicles that were seen in the Fretson Green area around the time of the incident.

“Uniformed officers will remain in the area as investigations continue, so please don’t hesitate to speak to them if you have any information or concerns.”
