Rotherham Hospital’s Proud Awards attracted nearly 500 nominations

A RECORD-BREAKING number of “incredible” health staff across the borough have been put forward in the search for Rotherham’s medical heroes.

Rotherham Hospital’s Proud Awards attracted nearly 500 nominations from colleagues and the public, topping last year’s previous record of 450.

The awards celebrate the work of colleagues from apprentices to leaders, services and facilities in categories including Public Recognition, supported by the Advertiser.

Last year, the category — for which readers are invited to nominate their own health heroes — was won by matron John Brammer of the theatres team for the way he had pursued new ways of working during the pandemic and “pushing boundaries” in healthcare delivery.

A panel selected the best handful from each category for the 2022 awards, with the shortlisted nominees invited to attend the ceremony at Magna in Rotherham on Friday, July 15.

Michael Wright, deputy chief executive of Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust said: “It’s wonderful to receive so many nominations for individuals and teams throughout the trust.

“Every day, I see the incredible work of colleagues in our hospital and community settings, and it is great to see them being recognised by their peers and members of the public, including patients and their families.

On the evening, the winners of the Chairman's Award and the Chief Executive Award will be announced, as well as the overall winners from the Trust's monthly Excellence Awards.
