Highlighting the good news on their social media pages, the post said: "We have discharged the only remaining patient who had tested positive for Covid-19 which means for the first time since March there are currently no confirmed positive Covid-19 patients in Rotherham Hospital.

"Our staff have done a fantastic job caring for 650 inpatients who tested positive for the virus. Sadly 204 patients have died after testing positive for Covid-19 and our thoughts are with their families and loved ones."

Any new Covid-19 patients that require hospital admission in Rotherham will now be moved to the single virus treatment site at The Royal Hallamshire, Sheffield, as long as they are fit to travel.

The trust added: "While there are currently no Covid patients in the hospital, the pandemic is not over. We must all continue to social distance, wash our hands, wear face coverings and get tested if we develop any symptoms. Thank you for your support."
