Rotherham firm organises conference on nuclear power

A TWO-day conference based on the nuclear industry has been organised by a Rotherham business support group.

NAMTEC (the National Metals Technology Centre) has set up the event in partnership with the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (NAMRC).

The Nuclear Metals and Manufacturing Conference will feature high profile speakers from the nuclear industry and will focus on the latest developments around nuclear power stations in the UK.

The aim is to provide the region's manufacturers with an insight into the opportunities to supply into this sector, giving companies the chance to network.

Keynote speakers will include representatives from EDF Energy, the National Nuclear Laboratory, Corus, Sheffield Forgemasters and the NAMRC.

Dr Alan Partridge from NAMTEC, said: "There is major investment being made into the nuclear sector over the next ten years and as a result, the opportunities are extensive for this region's manufacturers to become part of the supply chain.   

“This event is designed to give delegates a better understanding of the UK and global nuclear new build programmes, including the technical research and the opportunities that lie ahead.

“We have received a tremendous response from delegates already from all over the UK, as this really is the nuclear event not to be missed."

The event will take place on June 29 and June 30 at Oulton Hall Hotel and Golf Resort in Leeds.
