South Yorkshire Police released its latest crime statistics today, revealing a fall from dropped from 17,325 to 16,790 incidents between 2010/11 and 2011/12.

The statistics showed an eight per cent fall in violent crime, a ten per cent drop in criminal damage, a 13 per cent drop in vehicle crime and a 53 per cent fall in hate crimes within Rotherham borough.

Violent crime, criminal damage and vehicle crime fell by 12, six and eight percent respectively across the county by comparison.
