Rotherham councillors banned from tweeting meetings

COUNCILLORS have been told not to use Twitter during meetings.

An increasing number of Rotherham Borough Council members are signing up to the micro-blogging website.

But there has been criticism that sending messages during meetings was distracting them from council business.

A council spokesman said: “Councillors are not meant to have mobile phones on in council meetings.”
