Rotherham Council tenants facing £5-a-week rent rise

COUNCILLORS will tomorrow be asked to approve plans to hike council house rent by 8.69 per cent.

Rotherham Borough Council’s Cabinet members will meet on Wednesday to discuss the increase—a weekly average of £5.

They will also be asked to approve an average rent of £83.14 on new build council properties and an increase of 4.6 per cent on garage rents.

Last month annual consumer price inflation (CPI), the government’s preferred measure, rose to 3.7%
