The hospital building was lit up last Friday evening, ahead of the official birthday on Sunday.

To mark the occasion, Richard Jenkins, chief executive of the trust, sent out a message thanking all the staff for their efforts.

He said: “It is an extraordinary time we find ourselves in at the moment with the Covid pandemic - and I know our colleagues have all gone the extra mile when conditions have been stressful and difficult.

“On behalf of the trust and the full executive team, I just want to say thank you to our colleagues for all they have done and continue to do for our patients in Rotherham.”
