Rotherham blast victim Michael Whinfrey: ADD YOUR TRIBUTE

Police have named the man who died in an explosion at a Rotherham recycling plant.

Michael Whinfrey (42), from Wickersley, was fatally injured in the blast at the Sterecycle recycling site on Sheffield Road, Rotherham, on January 11.

Another man was injured in the incident. He was 51-year-old Peter Lindon Davis, who was being treated at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield today.

Operations at the plant have been suspended until a full investigation into the cause of the incident has been carried out.

A spokeswoman for Sterecycle said: “It is with great sadness that Sterecycle announces the death of one its employee at its Rotherham waste treatment plant.”

South Yorkshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the cause of the explosion.
