The long-running hitmakers, best known for I’m Not In Love and Rubbet Bullets, will play the third night of the Rotary Club’s annual Music in the Gardens season.

The Bootleg Beatles (pictured above), The Zombies (pictured below), Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra and Rotherham’s own rising stars, Alvarez Kings, will also entertain the audience at Sheffield Botanic Gardens between June 29 and July 2.

This year's event will provide a rare chance to see The Zombies, featuring original band members Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone, and best known for hits such as She’s Not There, Time of the Season and Tell Her No.

It is their first South Yorkshire performance in five years as part of their Odessey and Oracle 50th Anniversary Finale Tour.

They will be appearing on the Thursday night, July 29, supported by John Rielly, the voice of Boy on a Dolphin.

Andrew Bates, one of MitG organisers, said of The Zombies’ appearance: “It's a rare chance to see a British band who became truly massive in America in the 60s and have never looked back.

“Seeing bands of this vintage and heritage is a must-see as they were one of the founding cornerstones of psychedelic soft pop/rock.”

Music in the Gardens launched 13 years ago as one night of jazz in a marquee.

Since then, the event has grown into a major fund raiser which supports the work of local charities, generating more than £250,000 for local good causes. The event is run and operated by Rotary Club members.

"The appearance of The Zombies is a huge honour for Music in the Gardens", said

On Friday, June 30, the hugely popular Bootleg Beatles take the stage.

Their stunning show has been thrilling audiences all over the world and the evening promises to deliver the ultimate party night.

Support will be provided by popular local act The Bootleggers.

Opening for 10cc on Saturday, July 1, will be Rotherham’s Alvarez Kings (pictured below), who are currently touring Germany and Austria after launching the debut album through Warner Bros two weeks ago.

The final night of Music in the Gardens, on Sunday, July 2, will have a traditionally classical field, with two impressive ensembles on show.

The Unite the Union Band will kick things off, before Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra present A Night at the Movies, complete with proms-style ceremony and fireworks to go with the big screen themes.

Proceeds will go to youth housing charity Roundabout, Neurocare, Aquabox and the Rotary Foundation.

Tickets range from £20 (£10 for under 17s) to £30 in advance and are available at www.sivtickets.com or on 0114 2233 777.
