Robbers target autistic victim

TRANSPORT police are appealing for the public’s help after an autistic man was robbed of his bag and all its contents at Conisbrough railway station.

Detectives have released images of two men who they would like to speak to in connection with the attack, which took place Tuesday August 2.

Det Con Bob Hunt, of British Transport Police, said: “The victim, a 25-year-old from Doncaster, was sitting in one of the station shelters when a man on a bike and another walking alongside, approached him and asked for the time.

“The autistic victim took his mobile phone out of his bag which he was carrying at the time, when one of the men leant in to steal the bag.

“The victim struggled to keep hold of its contents and was aggressively pushed backwards allowing the man to run free with the bag. The pair were seen making off from the scene.”

The police have released CCTV images of two men who they believe may haveinformation.

DC Hunt added: “This man was clearly targeted by his attackers and we will do all we can to identify them and bring them to justice. Violent behaviour towards passengers and rail staff will not be tolerated by BTP.

“I’d urge anyone who recognises these men, and their distinctive clothing, to come forward.”
