Road closures to continue

OVERNIGHT closures on the Parkway continue this weekend to allow routine maintenance alongside major improvement works.

The A630 will be fully closed westbound between the M1 and Catcliffe from 8pm on Saturday (17) to 6am the next morning, with a diversion in place.

The improvement works are to add an extra lane in both directions and widen the roundabout and slip roads to the motorway.

Paul Woodcock, RMBC director for regeneration and environment, said: “It is essential that maintenance continues while the improvement works are under way, to ensure roads users are safe.

“Usually only a single lane of the carriageway would be closed to allow access for litter-picking, lighting repairs and other routine work.

“Given this section of the A630 is already operating with narrow lanes while construction takes place, it is necessary to close both lanes to keep road users and maintenance crews safe.

“We thank residents, road users and local businesses for their patience while this work takes place.”
