POLICE have closed Denaby Lane, Kilnhurst, after a tanker carrying “potentially hazardous chemicals” overturned there last night.
The lorry carrying “materials used in coatings, polishes and adhesives” left the road at around 11pm, a police spokesman said.
He added that none of the tanker’s contents had been spilled, no other vehicles were involved and the lorry driver had left the scene unhurt.
Fire engines from Edlington, Dearne and Maltby stations attended the crash last night in line with procedures for potential chemical spills, said a fire service spokesman.
One crew from Edlington returned to the scene with a crane this morning to right the vehicle and tow it away.
Police have blocked access to the road while the tanker is recovered and traffic diversions are currently in place.
