Road closed after ambulance collides with car

AN EMERGENCY services worker was taken to hospital after a collision between an ambulance and a car.

The smash happened at 9am yesterday on Brinsworth Lane in Brinsworth.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers responded to reports of a crash involving a car and an ambulance. 

“The road was closed for a short time while the debris was cleared.

“It is not believed that anyone was seriously injured in the incident.”

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: “The ambulance was on its way to an emergency at the time of the collision.

“We deployed another ambulance to the original emergency and two ambulances attended the road traffic collision.  

“One member of Yorkshire Ambulance Service staff was conveyed to hospital to be checked over.”
