Rita braves head shave for Parkinson’s charity

A HEALTHCARE assistant braved the shave to raise money for charity.

Rita Bell, who works for Waterside Grange Care Home in Dinnington, shaved her head in aid of Parkinson’s UK, a charity she is particularly passionate about.

As an experienced carer, Rita is all too familiar with the struggles of living with Parkinson’s.

Rita said: “It was seeing first-hand the effect Parkinson’s disease can have on people’s lives that inspired me to do something to help raise some much-needed funds.

“I was a bit nervous, but we made a day of it, and it was a lot of fun, the residents seemed to enjoy it as well.”

Rita surpassed her £500 fundraising target with an impressive sum of £760.

A further contribution will also be made to the Waterside Grange lifestyle and therapy fund in aid of its residents.
